Dillian Whyte will be handed a chance at redemption on Saturday, as he looks to bounce back from his 2020 defeat to Alexander Povetkin. The Brit will be hoping to reignite his world title shot aspirations by beating the Russian at the second attempt.

Whyte was knocked out by Povetkin in the first fight, in August 2020.

The Brit controlled the entire fight, and even knocked down Povetkin twice in the early rounds.

But a stunning left uppercut by the Russian sealed a sensational win for Povetkin, and stopped Whyte’s momentum in its tracks.

Whyte had won his previous 11 fights, since his first professional defeat, to Anthony Joshua.

Whyte was expected to land a mandatory fight against Tyson Fury, if he were to beat Povetkin.

But the defeat has allowed Fury and Joshua to agree their own fight, and Whyte will now have to try and beat Povetkin at the second attempt.

The 41-year-old Povetkin has only lost two of his previous 39 fights, however.

His only defeats came against Joshua and boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko.
