Tennessee football suspends three players following drug possession-related arrests

Tennessee footballers Martavius ​​French, Isaac Washington and Aaron Wilsway were suspended indefinitely Friday after being arrested this week on preliminary

charges of drug addiction.

A person with direct knowledge of the situation told Knoxville News Sentinel that a fourth player was also punished indefinitely. The man’s name was not

disclosed, as he was not allowed to speak publicly about the suspension decision.

A UT police statement released Friday lists five people, including the French, Washington, and Willis, in connection with an incident that occurred Tuesday

evening at the Stokely Hall Residence on the Knoxville campus. The record does not provide the date of arrest.

The prisoners were an anonymous teenager and Clinton Warren was listed as a student in UT’s online directory but was not a member of the football team. Some

of the signatories who enlisted in January are not yet 18 years old.

“We are aware of an incident involving football student athletes at Stokley Hall,” Tennessee Athletics said in a statement. “The persons involved in the

incident were suspended from football activities by the university indefinitely for further investigation.”

A witness told the UT police that his roommates opened the door and was tortured by a man, according to the UT public security statement, three or four

people entered the apartment and went to another room and took the belongings of the person looking at the door.

The person who answered the door and the witness said he did not know they had entered the house, according to a security statement issued earlier this week

after UT housing workers informed UT police about an incident that occurred in Stokely Hall on Tuesday.

Willis of Virginia Life Christian Academy is one of the best members of Tennessee’s 2021 recruitment class. The four-star defender was drafted in January.
